Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Northern Alabama
National Weather Service Huntsville AL
402 AM CDT Mon Aug 21 2017

.DISCUSSION...

A weakening ridge of high pressure will be moving east of the
region today with isolated thunderstorms possible mainly over
northwest Alabama this afternoon.

With the weakened ridge in place on Tuesday, isolated to
scattered thunderstorms will be possible before a cold front
arrives. Dispersion should be good on both Monday and Tuesday
given the high mixing heights.

More numerous showers and thunderstorms should occur on
Tuesday night into Wednesday as a cold front moves across north
Alabama. Total precipitation amounts around 0.50 inches are
possible from Tuesday night through Wednesday evening.

Behind the cold front, a high pressure system will return with
temperatures around 5-7 degrees cooler on Thursday and Friday with
a drier/cooler airmass in place. Isolated thunderstorms return to
the forecast for Saturday and Sunday.

Fog potential over the next few days: very patchy fog may occur
late tonight.

Potential for Red Flag Conditions: None at this time.
