Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Southwestern California
National Weather Service Los Angeles/Oxnard CA
309 PM PDT Mon Aug 21 2017

...Elevated fire weather conditions expected through early this
evening for wind prone interior mountain locations...

.DISCUSSION...Elevated fire weather conditions will continue for
inland portions of the mountains this afternoon and early evening due
to gusty southerly winds and humidities into the teens with localized
single digits. Brief critical fire conditions are possible but
trending less likely across wind prone areas of the Antelope Valley
foothills into the adjacent mountains through early this evening.
Humidities in this area now look to remain generally into the teens
with peak southerly winds gusting to around 30 mph. Thunderstorms
have been removed from the forecast due to the lack of available
moisture.

Onshore flow continue weaken through the week as a weak trough aloft
is gradually replaced by a moderate ridge. This will support gradual
warming for the first half of the week with more significant warming
becoming more likely late in the week. The warmer temperatures
combined with a receding marine layer will also support an overall
drier conditions, most notable across the valleys into the coastal
foothills.
