Fire Weather Forecast FOR southern Oregon and northern California
National Weather Service Medford, OR
532 AM PDT Mon Aug 21 2017

...FIRE WEATHER WATCH IN EFFECT FROM TUESDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH
TUESDAY EVENING FOR ABUNDANT LIGHTNING WITH DRY FUELS FOR FIRE
WEATHER ZONES 280...281...282...284...285...617...621...622...
623...624 AND 625...

.DISCUSSION...Gusty offshore winds have ceased as the thermal
trough has weakened and will be positioned will inland by
afternoon. Lighter onshore winds will prevail in coastal areas
by afternoon. Hot and dry weather will occur inland but a
transition to southerly flow aloft marks the onset of a changing
atmosphere as a result of an upper low moving slowly into
California. Weak shortwave energy in addition to moist and
unstable flow will occur Tuesday with scattered thunderstorms for
mainly the south and east. A mix of wet and dry storms is
expected and some storms may last into Tuesday night. Storm
chances look to decrease by Wednesday as activity pushes east and
a cold front approaches with increasing winds. Temperatures cool
by 5 to 10 degrees Thursday under an upper trough.
