Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Wrn Montana and N Cntrl Idaho
National Weather Service Missoula MT
240 PM MDT Mon Aug 21 2017

...Lower RH day and night into Wednesday...
...Lightning threat and increasing winds late Wednesday into
Thursday...
...Very dry and heat returns by weekend...

.DISCUSSION...

Idaho: High pressure will build and produce warmer and drier conditions
with significant thermal belts and stable valley conditions into
Wednesday. High level moisture will shift over the area late Wednesday
with the atmosphere becoming increasingly unstable...leading to a
lightning threat. A weak cold front will produce more significant west
winds Thursday. High pressure and the return of very dry and hot
conditions is possible next weekend.

Montana: High pressure will build and produce warmer and drier conditions
with significant thermal belts and stable valley conditions into
Wednesday. The atmosphere should become increasingly unstable late
Wednesday into Thursday. The initial area of convection and lightning
threat will be northwest Montana Wednesday night and then southwest
Montana Thursday afternoon. Only isolated wetting rain is expected. A
weak cold front will produce more significant west winds Thursday. High
pressure and the return of very dry and hot conditions is possible next
weekend.
