FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR NW OREGON AND SW WASHINGTON
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PORTLAND OR
920 AM PDT WED OCT 1 2014

.BROADCAST DISCUSSION...BUILDING UPPER LEVEL HIGH PRESSURE
WILL BRING GENERALLY DRY AND MILD CONDITIONS WITH LIGHT
WINDS THROUGH THE END OF THE WEEK. THERE IS A SLIGHT CHANCE
OF RAIN FOR THE S WASHINGTON AND N OREGON COAST OVER THE
WEEKEND...BUT OTHERWISE EXPECT DRY AND MILD WEATHER TO CONTINUE
INTO EARLY NEXT WEEK FOR MOST OF THE REGION.

.DISCUSSION...PATCHY FOG AND LOW CLOUDS THIS MORNING WILL
GIVE WAY TO SUNSHINE THIS AFTERNOON AS UPPER LEVEL HIGH
PRESSURE BUILDS OVER THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST. EXPECT A WARMING
AND DRYING TREND THROUGH THE END OF THE WEEK AS THE HIGH
PRESSURE STRENGTHENS. EXPECT BREEZY WESTERLY WINDS THROUGH
THE COLUMBIA RIVER GORGE AGAIN THIS AFTERNOON. THEN LIGHT
NE OFFSHORE FLOW IS EXPECTED TO DEVELOP OVERNIGHT INTO
THURSDAY IN RESPONSE TO A DEVELOPING THERMALLY INDUCED
SURFACE TROUGH ALONG THE NORTHERN CALIFORNIA AND SOUTHERN
OREGON COAST. THE OFFSHORE GRADIENT MAY LAST INTO FRIDAY.

THE LOW LEVEL FLOW REMAINS GENERALLY NORTHERLY OVER THE
WEEKEND...KEEPING MAINLY DRY AND SLIGHTLY ABOVE AVERAGE
TEMPERATURES IN PLACE ACROSS THE REGION. HOWEVER...A WEAK
FRONT IS EXPECTED TO PUSH INTO WESTERN WASHINGTON AT SOME
POINT OVER THE WEEKEND. IT STILL LOOKS DRY OVER MOST
OF OUR DISTRICT...BUT THE S WASHINGTON AND N OREGON COAST
AND COAST RANGE COULD SEE A BRIEF PERIOD OF LIGHT RAIN.

FORECASTER...PYLE
