FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR NW OREGON AND SW WASHINGTON
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PORTLAND OR
210 PM PDT THU SEP 3 2015

...SHOWERY INTO TOMORROW...THEN DRY AND MILD...

.BROADCAST DISCUSSION...COOL UNSTABLE AIR MASS WILL REMAIN OVER
THE REGION THROUGH FRIDAY...WITH SCATTERED SHOWERS AND EVEN A
FEW WET THUNDERSTORMS. DRIER WEATHER RETURNS THIS WEEKEND...ALONG
WITH SEASONABLE TEMPERATURES. MAY SEE MINOR THREAT OF SHOWERS NEXT
WEEK...BUT OVERALL LOOKS DRY AND MILD.

.DISCUSSION...COOL UPPER LEVEL LOW WILL MAINTAIN A COOL UNSTABLE
AIR MASS OVER THE REGION THROUGH FRIDAY. THIS WILL MAINTAIN
SCATTERED SHOWERS AND EVEN A FEW WET AFTERNOON/EVENING
THUNDERSTORMS...MAINLY OVER THE HIGHER TERRAIN. OVERALL PRESSURE
GRADIENTS ARE NOT ALL THAT STRONG...SO NO SIGNIFICANT WINDS ARE
EXPECTED ASIDE FROM BREEZY AFTERNOONS/EVENINGS ON EAST SLOPES OF
THE CASCADES AND THROUGH THE EASTERN COLUMBIA GORGE.

ONCE THE LOW DROPS FARTHER SOUTHEAST INTO THE GREAT BASIN AND
IDAHO ON SATURDAY...WILL SEE DRIER WEATHER ACROSS OUR AREA. THIS
DRY WEATHER WITH SEASONABLE TEMPERATURES WILL CONTINUE INTO NEXT
WEEK. BUT...WILL LIKELY SEE ANOTHER MINOR THREAT OF SHOWERS OVER
THE FAR NORTHERN ZONES FOR SUNDAY INTO EARLY NEXT WEEK AS WILL
HAVE A FEW WEAK FRONTS PASSING ACROSS WASHINGTON. CONFIDENCE IS
NOT ALL THAT STRONG ON MUCH IF ANY MOISTURE...AS THESE FRONTS WILL
ACT TO ENHANCE THE LIGHT TO MODERATE ONSHORE FLOW.

FCSTR...ROCKEY.
