Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Western and Central Wyoming
National Weather Service Riverton WY
154 PM MDT Wed Aug 23 2017

.DISCUSSION...

...Yellowstone NP and Teton dispatch areas (includes fire weather
zones 140...414...415...and 416)...

Moisture will spread north across the area late today and tonight. A
weather disturbance will combine with this moisture to produce more
widespread showers and thunderstorms Thursday afternoon and night.
As a result, it will be cooler and wetter Thursday. The moisture
will linger through Friday before drier and warmer air reaches
western Wyoming for the weekend.

...Rawlins dispatch area (includes fire weather zones 277...278...
279...and 289)...

A weather disturbance lifting north across the dispatch area will
produce scattered showers and thunderstorms through this evening.
Heavy rain will be possible as the storms will move relatively
slowly. Drier air will push into the district Thursday and Friday
limiting showers and thunderstorms to mainly mountain locations.
Expect a trend toward warmer and drier weather late this week and
into the weekend as high pressure sets-up over the region.

...Cody dispatch area (includes fire weather zones 275...276...
282...283...285...286...287...288...and 289)...

A weather disturbance and associated moisture will lift north across
western Wyoming tonight and produce isolated showers and
thunderstorms over the southern portion of the dispatch area. This
disturbance will then move east on Thursday creating more widespread
showers and storms across the northern fire zones, especially the
mountains. The moisture will linger through Friday before drier and
warmer air reaches the district for the weekend.

...Casper dispatch area (includes fire weather zones 280...281...
285...289...and 300)...

A weather disturbance will pass across western Wyoming tonight
before tracking across northern Wyoming Thursday. This disturbance
will create more showers and thunderstorms over zones 281 and 285
Thursday. As a result, it will be cooler Thursday. A cold front will
push across the dispatch area Friday bringing cooler temperatures,
particularly the northern zones. Expect warmer and drier conditions
for the weekend as high pressure sets-up over the region.

...Thunderstorms imply strong gusty and erratic winds...
...Haines Index is high level Haines both day and night...
