URGENT - FIRE WEATHER MESSAGE
National Weather Service Los Angeles/Oxnard CA
404 PM PDT Sat Oct 21 2017

...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 AM PDT SUNDAY FOR THE SANTA BARBARA
COUNTY MOUNTAINS DUE TO GUSTY NORTH TO NORTHEAST WINDS AND LOW HUMIDITIES...

...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM PDT TUESDAY FOR THE LOS ANGELES
AND VENTURA COUNTY MOUNTAINS AND SANTA CLARITA VALLEY DUE TO GUSTY
NORTHEAST WINDS AND LOW HUMIDITIES...

...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 6 AM PDT SUNDAY UNTIL 6 PM PDT TUESDAY
FOR REMAINING COASTAL AND VALLEY AREAS OF LOS ANGELES AND VENTURA COUNTIES
DUE TO GUSTY NORTHEAST WINDS AND LOW HUMIDITIES...

.Gusty north to northeast winds and a drying trend will continue
to bring critical fire weather conditions to the mountains and
Santa Clarita Valley this afternoon through tonight.
From Sunday through Tuesday, gusty Santa Ana winds combined with
hot and very dry conditions will bring an extended period of
critical fire weather conditions to much of Los Angeles and
Ventura counties. The most critical fire weather conditions are
expected Monday through Tuesday, when there will be increasing
coverage and intensity of Santa Ana winds, record breaking triple
digit heat, humidities lowering into the single digits, and very
dry fuels. The strongest winds are expected to occur on Tuesday
when peak gusts between 45 and 60 mph are expected across wind
prone passes and canyons of Los Angeles and Ventura counties.

Very warm and dry conditions the overnight hours in the mountains,
foothills, and wind prone areas will add to the fire weather threat.
The duration, strength, and widespread nature of this Santa Ana
wind event combined with extreme heat will bring dangerous fire
weather conditions to Southwest California Sunday through Tuesday.
If fire ignition occurs, there will be the potential for very
rapid spread of wildfire with long range spotting and extreme fire
behavior that could lead to a threat to life and property.
