...GLACIER-DAMMED LAKE CONTINUING TO RELEASE INTO TAZLINA LAKE
AND THE TAZLINA RIVER...

A GLACIER-DAMMED LAKE ON THE TAZLINA GLACIER IS RELEASING. PILOT
REPORTS ON MONDAY INDICATED THE GLACIER-DAMMED LAKE WAS STILL ABOUT
HALF FULL. THE TAZLINA RIVER HAS BEEN RISING STEADILY OVER THE
PAST 72 HOURS. AS OF 500 PM AKDT WEDNESDAY THE RIVER WAS AT A STAGE
OF AROUND 29.0 FEET. IN THE LAST FEW HOURS THE RATE OF WATER LEVEL
RISE HAS SLOWED SIGNIFICANTLY. ADDITIONAL WATER LEVEL INCREASES
ARE POSSIBLE OVERNIGHT. THE RIVER IS EXPECTED TO REMAIN BELOW
MINOR FLOOD STAGE OF 31.00 FEET. HEAVY DEBRIS CONTINUES TO MOVE DOWN
THE TAZLINA RIVER.

ADDITIONAL RISES IN WATER LEVELS ARE POSSIBLE ON TAZLINA LAKE AND
THE RIVER DOWNSTREAM OF TAZLINA LAKE INCLUDING THE AREA AROUND THE
RICHARDSON HIGHWAY BRIDGE. ALL PERSONS WITH INTERESTS NEAR THE
RIVER SHOULD MONITOR THE WATER LEVELS OVER THE NEXT SEVERAL DAYS.
