...RISING WATER EXPECTED ON THE KUSKOKWIM RIVER...

HEAVY RAINFALL THAT OCCURRED ALONG THE NORTHERN AND WESTERN
SLOPES OF THE ALASKA RANGE EARLIER THIS WEEK HAS PRODUCED A SURGE
OF WATER THAT IS PROGRESSING DOWN THE KUSKOKWIM RIVER. HIGH WATER WAS
REPORTED AT NIKOLAI ON THURSDAY MORNING (8/27). AT MCGRATH WATER
LEVELS ROSE 3 FEET IN 24 HOURS.

THIS SURGE OF WATER IS PROGRESSING DOWNSTREAM AND WILL RESULT IN
RISING WATER ON THE KUSKOKWIM RIVER UPSTREAM OF ANIAK THIS
WEEKEND. AT THIS TIME THE WATER IS NOT EXPECTED TO REACH FLOOD
STAGE AT ANY LOCATIONS. HOWEVER...THOSE WITH INTERESTS ALONG THE
KUSKOKWIM RIVER SHOULD PREPARE FOR AN UNSEASONABLY FAST RISE IN
WATER LEVELS OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS AND MOVE PERSONAL BELONGINGS
AWAY FROM THE WATERS EDGE.

THIS STATEMENT WILL BE UPDATED AS CONDITIONS WARRANT.
