...GUSTY SOUTHERLY WINDS TO 45 MPH WILL CONTINUE THROUGH 5 AM...

A SURGE OF WIND AIDED BY LATE THURSDAY EVENING THUNDERSTORMS THAT
MOVED THROUGH TAMAULIPAS...AND PERHAPS SOME OF THE OVERNIGHT
ACTIVITY IN SOUTH CENTRAL AND SOUTHEAST TEXAS FROM NEAR AUSTIN
TOWARD NORTH OF HOUSTON...HAS REACHED INTO CAMERON AND WILLACY
COUNTY AS 2 TO 3 AM. PEAK WIND GUSTS TO 46 MPH WERE RECORDED IN
HARLINGEN AT 219 AM...AND 41 MPH IN WESLACO AT 155 AM.

GUSTS BETWEEN 35 AND 45 MPH ARE LIKELY ALONG AND EAST OF HIGHWAY
77 IN CAMERON AND WILLACY COUNTY THROUGH AROUND 5 AM BEFORE THE
SURGE SHIFTS INTO THE GULF OF MEXICO.

THE WINDS MAY BLOW LIGHTWEIGHT OBJECT SUCH AS EMPTY TRASH CANS AND
LAWN FURNITURE AROUND. EARLY MORNING DRIVERS SHOULD KEEP TWO HANDS
ON THE WHEEL...ESPECIALLY THOSE TRAVELING ON EAST-WEST ELEVATED
HIGHWAYS SUCH AS INTERSTATE 2.
