URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE

...THE COMBINATION OF HEAVY SNOW AND STRONG WINDS WILL AFFECT THE
SNOWY AND SIERRA MADRE MOUNTAINS LATE SATURDAY NIGHT THROUGH MONDAY...

.VERY MOIST PACIFIC AIR COMBINED WITH STRONG WEST WINDS WILL SET THE
STAGE FOR A PROLONGED PERIOD OF HEAVY UPSLOPE SNOW FOR THE SIERRA MADRE
AND SNOWY RANGES. SNOW WILL BEGIN TO FALL SATURDAY NIGHT WITH SNOWFALL
RATES INCREASING SUNDAY THROUGH MONDAY. SNOWFALL TOTALS OF ONE TO
TWO FEET WILL BE POSSIBLE DURING THIS PERIOD. THE COMBINATION OF STRONG
WINDS AND HEAVY SNOW WILL CREATE TREACHEROUS TRAVEL CONDITIONS THROUGH
AND AROUND THE MOUNTAINS.

...WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT TONIGHT TO 6 PM MST
MONDAY...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN CHEYENNE HAS ISSUED A WINTER STORM
WARNING FOR HEAVY SNOW AND STRONG WINDS...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM
MIDNIGHT SATURDAY NIGHT TO 6 PM MST MONDAY. THE WINTER STORM WATCH
IS NO LONGER IN EFFECT.

* TIMING...SNOW WILL DEVELOP SATURDAY NIGHT AND BECOME HEAVY SUNDAY
  THROUGH MONDAY.

* TOTAL SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...ONE TO TWO FEET WITH LOCALLY HIGHER
  AMOUNTS POSSIBLE ALONG WEST FACING SLOPES.

* WINDS/VISIBILITY...SUSTAINED WEST WINDS WILL INCREASE TO 30 TO
  40 MPH WITH GUSTS TO 50 MPH. VISIBILITIES MAY BE REDUCED TO A
  QUARTER MILE IN FALLING AND BLOWING SNOW.

* IMPACTS...TRAVEL ALONG HIGHWAY 230 BETWEEN WOODS LANDING AND THE
  STATELINE...AND BETWEEN ENCAMPMENT AND THE STATELINE MAY BE
  IMPACTED BY THE WINTRY CONDITIONS. OUTDOOR ENTHUSIASTS PLANNING
  TO VENTURE OUT INTO THE HIGH COUNTRY WILL WANT TO EXERCISE EXTREME
  CAUTION SUNDAY THROUGH MONDAY.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A WINTER STORM WARNING FOR HEAVY SNOW AND STRONG WINDS MEANS SEVERE
WINTER WEATHER CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED OR OCCURRING. SIGNIFICANT
AMOUNTS OF SNOW ARE FORECAST THAT WILL MAKE TRAVEL DANGEROUS. ONLY
TRAVEL IN AN EMERGENCY. IF YOU MUST TRAVEL...KEEP AN EXTRA FLASHLIGHT...
FOOD...AND WATER IN YOUR VEHICLE IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY.
