...A RED FLAG WARNING IS IN EFFECT FROM NOON UNTIL 7 PM TODAY
FOR GUSTY WINDS...LOW HUMIDITY AND DRY FUELS FOR FIRE WEATHER
ZONE 224 WHICH INCLUDES THE SAN LUIS VALLEY...

.Discussion...

Fuels are reported to be receptive across the San Luis Valley.
With winds expected to gust to around 40 mph and low humidities,
a Red Flag Warning will be required for the valley today. It`ll
be windy elsewhere, too, but fuels are in greenup so no highlights.
Regardless, probably not a good day to engage in outdoor burning
or any other activities that could accidentally start a fire.

Increasing westerly flow will bring generally dry and warm weather
to most of the district today. Tonight, the weather pattern will
begin a transition into a cooler, wetter regime as the first in
a series of disturbances brings snow to the central mountains.

Tuesday through the weekend looks like a cool and unsettled period
with good chances for wetting precipitation Tuesday afternoon and night
and again Friday through the weekend. There could even be snow down
to the lowest elevations and widespread freezing temperatures beginning
Friday night.

Afternoon ventilation rates will be excellent today. On Tuesday,
rates will still be excellent over the mountains but rates across
the plains will mainly be poor to fair.

--- thunderstorms imply strong gusty and erratic winds ---
