Fire Weather Planning Forecast FOR S Cntrl and Sern Colorado
National Weather Service Pueblo Co
344 AM MST Thu Nov 16 2017

.Discussion...

A Pacific storm system will bring wind and mountain snow to the
district today through Friday. Significant snow will fall along the
Continental Divide above 9000 feet. Scattered light accumulations
will fall over the eastern mountains. Little or no precipitation is
expected at the lower elevations.

Strong winds will be a big part of this weather system, elevating
the fire danger across the region. Gusts to 60 mph will be possible
in the mountains through Friday with gusts to 40 mph possible at the
lower elevations, especially on Friday when the strongest winds move
through. While RHs are expected to remain high enough to limit the
need for fire weather highlights, the fire danger will still be high
due to the strong winds. Outdoor burning or any other activities
that could start a wildfire should be postponed through Friday.

This weekend into next week, the fire danger will decrease over the
district as upper high pressure rebuilds over the region. Winds
will decrease and temperatures will return to near or above average
levels with no precipitation expected.

Strong transport winds will bring generally excellent ventilation to
the region through Friday.

--- thunderstorms imply strong gusty and erratic winds ---
