Fire Weather Planning Forecast FOR S Cntrl and Sern Colorado
National Weather Service Pueblo Co
1211 PM MST Mon Dec 11 2017

...A Red Flag Warning remains in effect from 10 am to 5 pm today for
gusty winds, low humidities and dry fuels for fire weather zones
234, 236, and 237, which includes Kiowa, Prowers and Baca Counties...

.Discussion...

Dry and unseasonably mild weather will continue across the district
through Wednesday. Red Flag conditions will occur across the far
eastern plains today and possibly again on Wednesday. It will be
dry elsewhere, too, but the winds will be less. Outdoor burning or
any other activities that could create a stray spark should be
postponed for the time being.

Thursday could bring a brief respite in the fire danger. Latest
forecast simulations are showing a pretty healthy shortwave dropping
south across the district during the day. This will likely bring a
shot of cold air to the district. It could also bring a few snow
showers but primarily to the mountains. Dry and warmer weather
would then return Friday.

Transport winds will be strong enough to lift ventilation rates into
the good and very good ranges over El Paso County and the far
eastern plains today. Elsewhere, rates will range from poor to
good. On Tuesday, rates will decrease, ranging from fair or good
over El Paso County and the far eastern plains to poor or fair
elsewhere.
