Fire Weather Planning Forecast FOR S Cntrl and Sern Colorado
National Weather Service Pueblo Co
959 PM MDT Thu Sep 21 2017

...A Red Flag Warning has been issued from 11 AM until 7 PM
MDT Friday for gusty winds, low humidities and dry fuels for fire
weather zones 227 through 232, which includes the southern I-25
corridor and the adjacent plains of Crowley and Otero counties...

.Discussion...

It will be windy on Friday across most of southern Colorado.
Moisture will be gradually increasing, but it appears likely
that the I-25 corridor and adjacent plains will see a long enough
period of critical fire weather conditions Friday afternoon to
necessitate a Red Flag Warning running from 11 AM until 7 PM.
Meanwhile...thunderstorms will be possible across the mountains
and far east plains tomorrow afternoon and evening as moisture
steadily streams up from the south.

Major changes are going to occur this weekend as a deep trough
of lower pressure moves towards the region. It will be warm and
breezy early Saturday, but clouds will increase with a chance
of showers and storms increasing during the day Saturday. A strong
cold front will cross the region Saturday night and Sunday will be
much cooler.

Smoke dispersion will be very good or better tomorrow afternoon
and Saturday afternoon.

--- thunderstorms imply strong gusty and erratic winds ---
