...WATER LEVELS ARE RUNNING HIGH ALONG THE FOUNTAIN CREEK AT COLORADO
SPRINGS...

VERY HEAVY RAIN IN WESTERN EL PASO COUNTY WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON HAVE
RAISED THE RIVER LEVEL ON THE FOUNTAIN CREEK IN COLORADO SPRINGS TO
A STAGE OF 6.7 FEET. THE FOUNTAIN CREEK IS EXPECTED TO RISE A LITTLE
FURTHER TO AROUND 7.2 FEET EARLY WEDNESDAY EVENING.

RIVER LEVELS ARE EXPECTED TO REMAIN WITHIN BANKS...BUT THE HIGH FLOWS
WILL STILL BE DANGEROUS. THOSE PARTICIPATING IN ACTIVITIES NEAR THE
WATER ARE ADVISED TO USE EXTREME CAUTION. STRONG CURRENTS COULD
QUICKLY BECOME A SAFETY HAZARD.

FOUNTAIN CREEK AT COLORADO SPRINGS...
* AT  4:01 PM WEDNESDAY THE STAGE WAS 6.7 FEET.
* FLOOD STAGE IS 8.0 FEET.
* NO FLOODING IS CURRENTLY FORECAST.


HIGH FLOWS POSE A SERIOUS THREAT TO PERSONS IN OR NEAR THE WATER. EACH
YEAR...HIGH FLOWS RESULT IN MISHAPS THAT ARE SOMETIMES FATAL.

STAY AWAY FROM THE FOUNTAIN CREEK THIS EVENING! DURING HIGH WATER...
SATURATED BANKS CAN EASILY BREAK OFF AND FALL INTO POTENTIALLY
DEADLY...FAST FLOWING WATER.
