HYDROLOGIC STATEMENT

...Water levels are running high along the Lower Arkansas River at
Avondale...Nepesta...Fowler...

High water levels will continue in the Arkansas River due to recent
heavy rainfall.

River levels are expected to remain within banks at Avondale...Nepesta
and Fowler...but the high flows will still be dangerous. Those
participating in activities near the  water are advised to use extreme
caution. Strong currents could quickly become a safety hazard.

Following is the latest available information...

Arkansas River Near Avondale...
* At  3:15 AM Monday the stage was 6.3 feet.
* Flood stage is 7.0 feet.
* No flooding is currently forecast.


Arkansas River Near Nepesta...
* At  3:46 AM Monday the stage was 16.3 feet.
* Flood stage is 16.5 feet.
* No flooding is currently forecast.


Arkansas River Near Fowler...
* At  3:31 AM Monday the stage was 7.4 feet.
* Flood stage is 8.0 feet.
* No flooding is currently forecast.


High flows are not uncommon this time of year...but they still pose a
serious threat to persons in or near the water. Each year...high
flows result in mishaps that are sometimes fatal.

Stay away from the banks of rivers and streams. During high water...
saturated banks can easily break off and fall into potentially
deadly...fast flowing water.
