...WET PERIOD AHEAD FOR SOUTHERN COLORADO...

FORECAST MODELS CONTINUE TO INDICATE A PERIOD OF VERY WET WEATHER
IS AHEAD FOR SOUTHERN COLORADO STARTING THURSDAY AND CONTINUING
THROUGH MONDAY. TOTAL LIQUID PRECIPITATION AMOUNTS OF 2 TO 3
INCHES ARE EXPECTED ALONG AND NEAR THE EASTERN MOUNTAINS BY
TUESDAY MORNING...WITH 1 TO 2 INCHES ELSEWHERE ACROSS SOUTHERN
COLORADO.

FOR ELEVATIONS ABOVE 6 TO 7 THOUSAND FEET...IT WILL BE COLD
ENOUGH FOR HEAVY WET SNOW AT TIMES. THIS INCLUDES THE IMMEDIATE
PIKES PEAK REGION AROUND COLORADO SPRINGS AS WELL AS MOST OF THE
MOUNTAIN AND HIGH VALLEY AREAS. SEVERAL INCHES TO SEVERAL FEET OF
HEAVY...WET SNOW WILL BE POSSIBLE IN THESE AREAS THROUGH THE
PERIOD. THE HEAVY...WET SNOW COULD RESULT IN POWER OUTAGES...TREE
DAMAGE AND PERIODS OF HAZARDOUS TRAVEL.

ANOTHER POTENTIAL HAZARD TO WATCH FOR IN THE DAYS AHEAD WILL BE
FLOODING. WITH SEVERAL ROUNDS OF PRECIPITATION EXPECTED TO MOVE
ACROSS THE AREA...SOILS WILL BECOME INCREASINGLY SATURATED OVER
TIME AND THE AMOUNT OF SURFACE RUNOFF WILL INCREASE. DEPENDING ON
A NUMBER OF VARIABLES..INCLUDING BOTH RAINFALL INTENSITIES AND
SNOW LEVELS...SOME AREAS COULD SEE ISSUES WITH URBAN OR SMALL
STREAM FLOODING AT TIMES.

STAY ALERT TO THE LATEST DEVELOPMENTS ON THIS INCOMING SPRING
STORM BY MONITORING THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN PUEBLO ON NOAA
WEATHER RADIO...FACEBOOK...TWITTER OR THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE
PUEBLO WEB PAGE AT WEATHER.GOV/PUEBLO.
