FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR UPPER MICHIGAN
National Weather Service Marquette MI
516 AM EDT Thu Apr 18 2024

...LIGHT RAIN SHOWERS RETURN OVER THE CENTRAL AND EAST TODAY...

.DISCUSSION: Mostly cloudy skies remain over the area today as
another shortwave low brings some light rain showers across the
central and east this afternoon through tonight. This light rain
isn`t expected to help too much with precipitation deficits across
the area as only up to 0.25 inches of liquid is expected, mainly
over the far east. As cooler and drier air makes its way into
the region tonight, expect the skies to clear out; this could
prevent some areas over the west from making a full RH recovery.
As a cold front continues through the area into Friday from west
to east, some light snow/rain showers could (generally 30 to 50%
chance) develop over WNW snow belts, remaining until Saturday
morning. With the cooler air behind the front being very dry,
expect to see min RHs dip into the 40 percents across most of the
area. That being said, we could see min RHs get down to the mid 30
percents in Menominee County Friday. While high temps are only
expected to be in the 40s, with westerly winds possibly gusting up
to 25 mph by the afternoon hours, we could see some
limited/localized fire weather concerns over Menominee County
Friday afternoon. More fire weather concerns look to greet us this
weekend into early next week, with the worst day looking to be
Sunday.
