Developmental Probabilistic Snow Accumulation Forecast
National Weather Service Denver/Boulder, Colorado
1446 MDT Friday, April 19, 2024

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This developmental product contains the probabilities (%) that the given snow
amounts (inches) will occur at Denver International Airport during the respec-
tive 3- or 12-hour periods. The probabilities indicate the amount of snow that
is expected to accumulate on runways and other concrete surfaces at DIA.
[T (trace) means more than zero.]
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Short Term (19/15-20/18 MDT): Rain showers have developed this afternoon and
will change to snow early this evening. Snow will continue into early Saturday
morning. Snow banding is possible with this system, if a band were to setup over
DIA, heavy snowfall amounts could cause snow to accumulate on elevated and
grassy surfaces with melting to occur on warmer paved surfaces, a slushy
accumulation is possible on the runways. Totals are expected to range between 1
and 4 inches at DIA on grass. With warm pavement temperatures, up to a slushy
inch of snow is forecast for the runways, with the potential for a little more
if banded snow develops overnight.
