...FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 645 PM EDT THIS EVENING...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by rain and snowmelt is expected.

* WHERE...A portion of southern Vermont, including the following
  counties, Rutland and Windsor.

* WHEN...Until 645 PM EDT.

* IMPACTS...Streams continue to rise due to excess runoff from
  earlier rainfall.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 344 PM EDT, rain and snowmelt is occurring, and will cause
    flooding.
  - The latest stage on the Ottauquechee River at West
    Bridgewater was 6.4 feet. Flood Stage is 6.5 feet.
    *At 6 feet, water will approach low lying fields and
    properties along the river near Route 4 from Killington
    downstream to Bridgewater, including areas along River Road
    in Bridgewater Corners.
    *At 6.5 feet, high water will impact low lying properties
    along the river near Route 4 from Killington downstream to
    Bridgewater. River Road in Bridgewater Corners will
    experience minor flooding.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Woodstock, Bridgewater, Plymouth, Barnard, Killington,
    Reading, Woodstock Village, Stockbridge, Pomfret, Shrewsbury,
    Mendon, West Windsor, Hartland, Pittsfield, Sharon, Hartford,
    Chittenden, Bridgewater Center, Bridgewater Corners and
    Calvin Coolidge State Park.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate route.
