Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Central Pennsylvania
National Weather Service State College, PA
1044 AM EDT Tue May 7 2024

.DISCUSSION...

A nearly stationary frontal boundary was stretched west to
east near the Interstate 76 corridor in Southern PA late this
morning.

Plenty of clouds covered much of Central Pennsylvania with some
spotty showers near the frontal boundary.

This front will slowly lift north across Central PA this afternoon
and tonight accompanied by scattered showers this afternoon and
perhaps a few brief thunderstorms across Southern PA. Winds will
be from the south to southwest at 5 to 10 mph over Southern PA
this afternoon and light and variable, becoming light
southeasterly over the Northern Mountains.

A fairly potent upper level disturbance cross the Ohio Valley
this afternoon and early tonight with widespread showers and
strong to severe thunderstorms.

The storms will weaken significantly as they move over the the
Western and Central Mountains of the state later tonight and
continue into the Predawn hours of Wednesday.

Wednesday will bring clearing skies and a gusty westerly wind,
over 30 mph at times.

Afternoon/minimum RH will dip into the 35-50pct range on Wed.
