Gusty northwest winds Friday afternoon continue through Friday night and remain breezy through much of the weekend in the wake of a deep trough moving into the continental US. Northwesterly gusts look to stay within the 25 to 30 mph range with isolated stronger gusts up to 40 mph possible in elevated terrain. Isolated areas of light rain or drizzle may persist into Saturday, though accumulations are not expected to meet the wetting rain threshold. Cooler, below average temperatures continue through Friday with drier, warmer conditions expected by mid to late weekend amd into early next week. Note : All winds are 20-foot Winds Unless otherwise specified. Thunderstorms imply strong, gusty and erratic winds. ...Discussion from Los Angeles/Oxnard... ...WIDESPREAD STRONG TO POTENTIALLY DAMAGING WEST TO NORTH WINDS THROUGH TONIGHT... ...GUSTY NORTHWEST TO NORTH WINDS ACROSS INTERIOR SATURDAY INTO SUNDAY... A deep marine layer pattern has persisted today, bringing moist and cool conditions across much of the region, except some downslope drying expected in the LA county valleys this afternoon. An inside slider will move across the area through Saturday, bringing a threat of showers to the region, mainly this afternoon and evening across interior areas. The highest chances of rain will be near the Kern County line. Any accumulations will likely be less than 0.25 inches. West to northwest winds gusting between 30 and 50 mph will continue today, shifting to the north tonight. While winds were mostly focused over the interior this morning, they are expected to become stronger and more widespread across much of the region this afternoon (including coastal areas) into tonight. Areas of strongest and potentially damaging winds are expected this afternoon into tonight across the I-5 corridor, Antelope Valley, and adjacent western foothills where gusts of 50 to 65 mph are likely. Northerly winds are expected to continue across the interior Saturday through Sunday night, but are expected to be weaker with gusts mostly in the 30 to 50 mph range, strongest in the I-5 corridor. Fairly moist conditions are expected today across much of the region, except the Los Angeles Valleys which could see some humidities locally lowering to around 20 percent by late afternoon. Drier conditions are expected to become more widespread over the weekend. $$ ECC028-271645- Santa Barbara County excluding Los Padres National Forest- Discussion for Santa Barbara ECC Dispatch 344 PM PDT Fri Apr 26 2024 ...WIDESPREAD STRONG TO POTENTIALLY DAMAGING WEST TO NORTH WINDS THROUGH TONIGHT... ...GUSTY NORTHWEST TO NORTH WINDS ACROSS INTERIOR SATURDAY INTO SUNDAY...
