Fire Weather Planning Forecast for West Texas/Southeast New Mexico
National Weather Service Midland/Odessa TX
307 AM CDT Wed Apr 17 2024

.DISCUSSION...

Above normal temperatures and very dry conditions are expected
today, with single digit afternoon RHs expected for most of the area.
Fortunately, winds trend lighter, mitigating fire weather concerns
for most of the region. The exception will be the Guadalupe/Delaware
Mtns, Sacramento Foothills, and immediately adjacent plains where
20ft winds could reach around 15 mph, with gusts possible at higher
elevations, yielding elevated/near critical fire weather conditions.
Hot and dry conditions continue Thursday, but light winds preclude
additional fire weather concerns. A cold front Thursday night brings
much cooler temperatures and increased moisture, with widespread
wetting rains possible through the weekend.
