...HIGH SURF ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT FROM 8 AM TO 6 PM EDT
SATURDAY...

* WHAT...For the Coastal Flood Advisory, 1 to 2 feet of inundation
  above ground level expected in low- lying areas near shorelines
  and tidal waterways. For the High Surf Advisory, large breaking
  waves of 8 to 10 feet expected in the surf zone.

* WHERE...West Carteret and Coastal Onslow Counties.

* WHEN...For the Coastal Flood Advisory, from 5 AM to 6 PM EDT
  Saturday. For the High Surf Advisory, from 8 AM to 6 PM EDT
  Saturday.

* IMPACTS...Flooding of lots, parks, and roads with only
  isolated road closures expected. Dangerous swimming and
  surfing conditions and localized beach erosion.


PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If travel is required, allow extra time as some roads may be
closed. Do not drive around barricades or through water of
unknown depth. Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone
property.

Inexperienced swimmers should remain out of the water due to
dangerous surf conditions.

* WHAT...For the Coastal Flood Advisory, 2 to 3 feet of
  inundation above ground level expected in low- lying areas near
  shorelines and tidal waterways. For the High Surf Advisory,
  large breaking waves of 8 to 12 feet expected in the surf zone.

* WHERE...Greatest impacts expected along portions of NC-12 on the
  northern end of Ocracoke Island where dune structures are most
  vulnerable.

* WHEN...For the Coastal Flood Advisory, from 8 PM this evening
  to 11 PM EDT Saturday. For the High Surf Advisory, from 5 AM
  to 11 PM EDT Saturday.

* IMPACTS...Flooding of lots, parks, and NC-12 may become
  inundated with closures possible. Dangerous swimming and
  surfing conditions and localized beach erosion.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The combination of large breaking waves and
  high water levels will lead to a risk of ocean overwash across
  the vulnerable portions of Ocracoke Island. Up to 2 to 3 feet
  of inundation above ground level is possible in low- lying areas
  near shorelines and tidal waterways resulting in a low threat
  of property damage. Some roads and low lying property including
  parking lots, parks, lawns, and homes adjacent to the waterfront
  will experience shallow flooding.
