Fire Weather Planning Forecast FOR S Cntrl and Sern Colorado
National Weather Service Pueblo Co
355 AM MDT Wed May 8 2024

...A Red Flag Warning remains in effect for the San Luis Valley,
Otero and eastern Las Animas county from 11 AM to 7 PM Wednesday...

.Discussion...

Critical fire weather conditions will return for the San Luis Valley
and Otero and eastern Las Animas counties on Wednesday with the
strongest winds during the early part of the day before gradually
decreasing through the mid to late afternoon. Spotty brief critical
fire weather conditions will be possible across Baca county and the
southeast mountains but will be limited in coverage and duration.

Chances for precipitation will increase again Thursday through
Saturday which will put an end to critical fire weather conditions
across southern Colorado due to cooler temperatures, higher humidity
values and lighter winds.

Afternoon smoke dispersion rates will be very good to excellent
today but significantly lower for most zones on Thursday. Please see
specific zone forecasts below for more details.
