...FLOOD ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 130 PM EDT THIS AFTERNOON...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.

* WHERE...A portion of central North Carolina, including the
  following counties, Davidson, Montgomery, Randolph and Stanly.

* WHEN...Until 130 PM EDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
  Ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is
  imminent.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 1059 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
    showers and thunderstorms continuously redeveloping over the
    same area. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
    shortly in the advisory area.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Albemarle, Badin Lake, Plyler, Locust, Norwood, Badin,
    Oakboro, Denton, Stanfield, Richfield, New London, Morrow
    Mountain State Park, Whip-O-Will Campground, Newsom,
    Eldorado, Lake Tillery, High Rock and Uwharrie Haven.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads.

River banks and culverts can become unstable and unsafe, stay away
or be swept away.

It is important to know where you are relative to streams, rivers,
or creeks which can become killers in heavy rains. Campers and
hikers should avoid streams or creeks.
