...HIGH SURF WARNING FOR SAN DIEGO AND ORANGE COUNTY BEACHES
THROUGH TUESDAY...

...LIGHTNING THREAT AT THE BEACHES TODAY...

.LARGE AND POTENTIALLY DAMAGING SURF WILL BATTER THE BEACHES
THROUGH SATURDAY. COASTAL FLOODING AND BEACH EROSION ARE POSSIBLE
DURING THIS TIME. THE SURF WILL LOWER SLIGHTLY ON SUNDAY...THEN
LOWER BY THE MIDDLE OF NEXT WEEK.

ALSO...A STRONG STORM SYSTEM WILL LIKELY BRING SCATTERED
THUNDERSTORMS TO THE BEACHES LATE THIS MORNING THROUGH THE EARLY
EVENING HOURS...WHICH WILL BE A DANGER TO BEACH GOERS AND
SWIMMERS.

...BEACH HAZARDS STATEMENT IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM PST THIS MORNING
THROUGH THIS EVENING...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SAN DIEGO HAS ISSUED A BEACH
HAZARDS STATEMENT FOR POTENTIAL LIGHTING AT THE BEACHES...WHICH
IS IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM PST THIS MORNING THROUGH THIS EVENING.

* CHANGES SINCE LAST ISSUANCE...BEACH HAZARDS STATEMENT ISSUED FOR
  A LIGHTHING THREAT AT THE BEACHES.

* SURF...SURF INCREASING TO 8 TO 12 FT WITH SETS TO 16 FEET
  TONIGHT THROUGH SATURDAY. SURF SUBSIDING SUNDAY THROUGH TUESDAY
  TO 6 TO 9 FT WITH SETS TO 12 FT. SURF WILL LIKELY DIMINISH
  BELOW HIGH SURF THRESHOLDS BY WEDNESDAY.

* TIMING FOR BEACH LIGHTNING...LATE MORNING THROUGH EARLY EVENING.

* TIDES...HIGHEST TIDE WILL BE 4.6 FT AT 435 AM SATURDAY...4.8 FT
  AT 520 AM SUNDAY...5.1 FT AT 559 AM MONDAY...AND 5.4 FT AT 634
  AM TUESDAY.

* IMPACTS...COASTAL FLOODING AND BEACH EROSION. DAMAGE TO COASTAL
  STRUCTURES SUCH AS PIERS. STRONG RIP CURRENTS AND DANGEROUS
  SWIMMING CONDITIONS. LARGE WAVES CAN WASH PEOPLE OFF JETTIES AND
  ROCKS. DEADLY CLOUD-TO-WATER AND CLOUD-TO-GROUND LIGHTNING
  POSSIBLE RESULTING IN A THREAT TO BEACH GOERS AND SWIMMERS.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A HIGH SURF WARNING INDICATES THAT DANGEROUS...BATTERING WAVE
WILL POUND THE SHORELINE. THIS WILL RESULT IN VERY DANGEROUS
SWIMMING CONDITIONS...AND DEADLY RIP CURRENTS.

A BEACH HAZARDS STATEMENT FOR BEACH LIGHTNING MEANS THAT THERE IS
THE POTENTIAL FOR CLOUD TO GROUND OR CLOUD TO WATER LIGHTNING
STRIKES WHICH COULD RESULT IN INJURY OR DEATH. MOVE INDOORS UNTIL
THE STORM PASSES AND STAY AWAY FROM METAL OBJECTS.
