...AUGUST WAS SLIGHTLY COOLER THAN NORMAL...WITH NEAR-NORMAL
RAINFALL...

THE MONTHLY AVERAGE TEMPERATURE OF 73.8 DEGREES WAS 1.5 DEGREES
BELOW NORMAL...FALLING JUST OUTSIDE OF THE COOLEST THIRD OF AUGUSTS
ON RECORD AND IN THE NEAR-NORMAL CATEGORY.  THE RAINFALL OF 3.78
INCHES WAS JUST 0.29 INCHES ABOVE NORMAL.

AUGUST STARTED WITH A WET STREAK...WITH MEASURABLE RAIN ON 3 OF THE
FIRST 8 DAYS OF THE MONTH TOTALING 0.56 INCHES OF RAIN.  THE WARMEST
TEMPERATURE OF THE MONTH...AT 96 DEGREES...WAS RECORDED ON THE 2ND.
TEMPERATURES WERE JUST A FEW DEGREES AWAY FROM NORMAL ON MOST DAYS
THROUGH THE 17TH. ALSO...THE WET WEATHER TO BEGIN THE MONTH WAS
FOLLOWED BY A DRY STREAK ON THE 9TH THROUGH THE 16TH.

THE SECOND HALF OF THE MONTH TILTED TOWARD COOLER AND WETTER
CONDITIONS. RAINFALL OF 2.08 INCHES ON THE 17TH TO 18TH WAS OVER
HALF OF THE MONTHLY TOTAL. A FEW OTHER RAINFALL DAYS...INTERSPERSED
WITH DRY WEATHER DAYS...PROVIDED A STEADY DOSE OF RAINFALL FOR THE
REST OF THE MONTH. TEMPERATURES FROM THE 17TH THROUGH THE 31ST WERE
MAINLY IN THE 70S TO MID 80S DURING THE DAY...WITH ONE 90+
DEGREEDAYON THE 22ND...AND DOWN IN THE 50S TO LOWER 60S AT NIGHT.
THE COLDEST TEMPERATURE OF THE MONTH...46 DEGREES...OCCURRED ON THE
24TH.  OVERALL...THE END-OF-MONTH WEATHER WAS LARGELY STILL ON THE
HUMID SIDE.

THE SUMMER MONTHS OF JUNE THROUGH AUGUST WERE WETTER AND SLIGHTLY
COOLER THAN NORMAL. THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE IN LINCOLN WAS 74.8
DEGREES...WHICH IS 0.6 DEGREES BELOW NORMAL. THE TOTAL RAINFALL OF
13.83 INCHES WAS 2.59 INCHES ABOVE NORMAL.
