TEMPERATURES...

WET WEATHER CONTINUED FROM SUMMER INTO THE FALL...WITH 6.11 INCHES
OF RAIN AT OMAHA EPPLEY AIRFIELD...MAKING THIS THE 11TH WETTEST
SEPTEMBER ON RECORD.  THE MONTHLY AVERAGE TEMPERATURE OF 66.3
DEGREES WAS JUST 0.6 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL...PLACING THE MONTH OF
SEPTEMBER IN THE NEAR-NORMAL CATEGORY.

AFTER A NEAR-AVERAGE START TO THE MONTH...THE TEMPERATURE PEAKED AT
93 DEGREES ON THE 4TH...WHICH WAS THE WARMEST READING OF THE MONTH.
THE WARMER PERIOD ENDED ON THE 5TH...AS THUNDERSTORMS BROUGHT CLOSE
TO A QUARTER INCH OF RAIN. FROM THE 5TH THROUGH THE
16TH...TEMPERATURES WERE PREDOMINANTLY BELOW NORMAL.  TEMPERATURES
DID NUDGE ABOVE NORMAL ON THE 8TH AND 9TH...BEFORE A SURGE OF COOLER
AIR BROUGHT A DAILY RECORD 3.43 INCHES OF RAIN ON THE 9TH.  AN
ESPECIALLY COOL HIGH TEMPERATURE OF 56 DEGREES OCCURRED ON THE
12TH...WITH A LOW OF 41 ON THE 13TH THAT WAS THE COOLEST READING OF
THE MONTH.  COOL RAIN FELL ON THE 11TH AND 12TH...WITH LIGHT RAIN IN
THUNDERSTORMS ON THE 15TH.

FROM THE 17TH THROUGH THE 30TH...TEMPERATURES WERE PREDOMINANTLY
ABOVE NORMAL...ESPECIALLY FROM THE 26TH THROUGH THE END OF THE
MONTH. THUNDERSTORMS BROUGHT LIGHTER RAINS ON THE 20TH AND
23RD...WITH A PROLONGED DRY PERIOD FROM THE 24TH THROUGH THE 29TH.
THOSE SIX DAYS WITHOUT MEASURABLE RAIN WERE THE LONGEST DRY STRETCH
IN OMAHA SINCE JULY 26-31.

THE FOUR-MONTH RAIN TOTAL FROM JUNE THROUGH SEPTEMBER STANDS AT
27.94 INCHES...WHICH IS THE 3RD WETTEST OF THAT PERIOD ON
RECORD...AND IS NEARLY DOUBLE THE NORMAL PRECIPITATION OF 14.51
INCHES FOR THAT PERIOD.
