Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Central South Carolina
and East Central Georgia
National Weather Service Columbia SC
305 PM EDT Thu Mar 30 2017

.DISCUSSION...A line of showers and thunderstorms is slowly lifting
northeast across the Central and Eastern Midlands this afternoon.
A stationary front will remain draped across the Central Savannah
River Area and South Midlands through the afternoon, then slowly
move northeast across the remainder of the area by late this evening.
Scattered to numerous showers and a few thunderstorms will redevelop
overnight into Friday morning as a cold front approaches from the
west. This front will cross the area by early afternoon, with all
showers coming to an end.

A tighter pressure gradient this evening and overnight will support
fair to good dispersion into early Friday morning. Low-level mixing
will inhibit any fog development.

Surface winds Friday will be from the south around 10 mph after
daybreak, then become southwest at 10 to 20 mph with peak gusts
around 25 mph from late morning through much of the afternoon.
Transport winds will become southwest with increasing speeds
reaching 25 to 30 mph in the afternoon. Drier air moving in
behind the cold front will allow relative humidities to drop
to near 40 percent by late afternoon.
