Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Southwest Arkansas...
Northwest Louisiana...East Texas...and Extreme Southeast Oklahoma
National Weather Service Shreveport LA
400 PM CST Sat Dec 16 2017

.DISCUSSION...
Scattered showers have shifted from south central TX to across
portions of east TX and deep east TX late this aftn, courtesy of an
approaching upper level disturbance. The atmosphere ahead of this
disturbance is quite dry, thus it will take a little bit of time
for the atmosphere to saturate from the top-down /albeit that
process is taking-shape/. This invasion from rainfall will spread
from southwest to northeast this evening through tonight, thereby
affecting most if not all of the Four-State Region. Southerly sfc
and 20-foot winds on the order of less than 5 kts tonight, coupled
with with a saturating atmosphere and increasing chances for
rainfall will result in the excellent recovery of relative
humidity values /90-100 percent/. Tomorrow, rainfall will commence
to exit the region from west to east but could see lingering
rainfall across portions of southwest AR, northeast and central
LA. Temperatures will warm to several degrees above normal across
most the area, though moist grounds/lingering rainfall and
persistent 20-foot southerly winds /5 kts or less/ will maintain
humidities well above critical thresholds during peak heating
/60-75 percent/ thus resulting in low/nil fire weather concerns.
Another night of excellent recovery in humidities will occur
tomorrow night /85-95 percent/, followed by another day of above
normal temperatures on Tuesday. Rainfall chances will linger
across mainly south of Interstate-20 on Monday, and returning to
the entire Four-State Region on Tuesday, thanks to another
approaching upper level disturbance from the west.

The next several days will benefit the areas that are experiencing
ongoing drought conditions, but it will not alleviate it given
overly significant rainfall is not expected. Several counties and
parishes are still under a burn ban /with the latest parish added
having been Caddo Parish/, so the utilization of outdoor equipment
that produces sparks and flames is highly discouraged.
