DISCUSSION:

A COLD LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM WILL DROP INTO CALIFORNIA TONIGHT.
THE LOW WILL THEN SLOWLY MOVE TO THE SSW AND IS FORECAST TO BE
CENTERED NEAR PT CONCEPTION LATE SUNDAY MORNING. THE LOW WILL THEN
SLOWLY MOVE TO THE EAST SUNDAY NIGHT AND MONDAY WITH A WEAKER
DISTURBANCE LIKELY MOVING INTO THE REGION MONDAY NIGHT INTO TUESDAY.

PRELIMINARY RAINFALL TOTALS CURRENTLY ARE FORECAST BETWEEN 0.10 AND
0.50 INCHES...WITH UP TO 1.25 INCH IN THE SAN GABRIEL MOUNTAINS.
THIS SYSTEM WILL BE VERY SHOWERY AND RAINFALL TOTALS WILL VARY
GREATLY ACROSS THE FORECAST AREA. HIGHER RAINFALL TOTALS SHOULD
OCCUR SOUTH OF POINT CONCEPTION...WITH HIGHEST AMOUNTS ACROSS LOS
ANGELES COUNTY. THESE AMOUNTS ARE PRELIMINARY...AND COULD CHANGE
SIGNIFICANTLY IF THE STORM TRACK ALTERS EVEN SLIGHTLY. SNOW LEVELS
WILL RANGE BETWEEN 4500 AND 6000 FEET ON SATURDAY...AND DOWN TO 3500
TO 4000 FEET ON SUNDAY. THUNDERSTORMS ARE POSSIBLE FROM SATURDAY
AFTERNOON THROUGH SUNDAY EVENING. RAINFALL RATES WILL GENERALLY BE
UNDER 0.10 INCHES PER HOUR...BUT ISOLATED RATES UP TO 0.25 TO 0.50
INCHES PER HOUR CANNOT BE DISCOUNTED IN THE FOOTHILLS AND NEAR
THUNDERSTORMS.

DRIER CONDITIONS SHOULD PREVAIL NEXT WEDNESDAY THROUGH THE FOLLOWING
WEEKEND.
