WESTERN NORTH PACIFIC BETWEEN EQUATOR AND 25N FROM 130E TO 180.

INTENSIFYING TYPHOON PHANFONE...CENTERED ABOUT 150 MILES WEST OF
ALAMAGAN AND 225 MILES NORTHWEST OF SAIPAN...CONTINUES TO MOVE TO
THE WEST NEAR 10 MPH. PERSISTENT THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY NEAR THE CORE
OF PHANFONE IS WEST OF THE MARIANA ISLANDS COASTAL WATERS THIS
AFTERNOON...WHILE A NORTH TO SOUTH ORIENTED BAND OF THUNDERSTORMS
RUNS ABOUT 200 MILES EAST OF THE MARIANAS. THIS PLACES MOST OF THE
MARIANA ISLANDS IN A ZONE OF DECREASED SHOWER AND THUNDERSTORM
ACTIVITY BETWEEN THESE TWO FEATURES.

A MONSOON TROUGH EXTENDS FROM PHANFONE TO THE SOUTHWEST ABOUT 325
MILES TO THE NORTHWEST OF YAP AND PALAU. TO THE SOUTH OF THE MONSOON
TROUGH...A BROAD AREA OF SCATTERED SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS IS
FOUND BETWEEN 13N AND 03N WEST OF 143E WITHIN A MOIST AND CONVERGENT
WEST TO SOUTHWEST LOW LEVEL FLOW.

A WEAK TROPICAL DISTURBANCE IS NOTED JUST EAST OF KOSRAE SOUTH OF
KWAJALEIN. THE DISTURBANCE IS MARKED BY A BROAD AREA OF SCATTERED
THUNDERSTORMS THAT IS MOVING WESTWARD SLOWLY. ISOLATED THUNDERSTORM
ACTIVITY ASSOCIATED WITH THE ITCZ CONTINUES OFF TO THE EAST TO THE
DATE LINE.

BETWEEN PHANFONE AND THE DISTURBANCE...CHUUK AND POHNPEI ARE UNDER
LIGHT WINDS AND LITTLE SHOWER ACTIVITY.

TO THE NORTHEAST OF THE ISLANDS...DEEP RIDGING AT THE SURFACE AND
ALOFT DOMINATE. VISIBLE SATELLITE DATA INDICATE A SURFACE HIGH NEAR
