...SIGNIFICANT WINTER WEATHER CONTINUES ACROSS THE QUAD STATE
REGION...

BY LATE WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON...THE TRANSITION TO ALL SNOW ACROSS
THE REGION WAS IN THE OFFING. REPORTS OF FREEZING RAIN AND SLEET
WILL CONTINUE THROUGH THE REMAINDER OF THE AFTERNOON ACROSS PARTS
OF WEST KENTUCKY...BEFORE CHANGING TO SNOW TONIGHT.

ACCUMULATION OF UP TO FIVE INCHES OF SNOW HAVE ALREADY OCCURRED
OVER PARTS OF SOUTHWEST ILLINOIS WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON.

ADDITIONAL ACCUMULATIONS OF SNOW WILL INCREASE DRAMATICALLY FOR
THE REST OF THE AFTERNOON AND EVENING HOURS OVER THE QUAD STATE
REGION WITH SNOWFALL AMOUNTS RANGING FROM TWO TO SIX INCHES NEAR
THE INTERSTATE 64 CORRIDOR IN SOUTHERN ILLINOIS AND SOUTHWEST
INDIANA TO SIX TO EIGHT INCHES OVER WEST KENTUCKY AND ADJACENT
PARTS OF SOUTHEAST MISSOURI AND EXTREME SOUTHERN ILLINOIS. LOCALLY
HIGHER AMOUNTS NEAR TEN INCHES WILL BE POSSIBLE IN EASTERN
SECTIONS OF THE PENNYRILE OF WEST KENTUCKY.

THE SNOW WILL RAPIDLY COME TO AN END BY DAYBREAK ON
THURSDAY...WITH SCATTERED FLURRIES EXPECTED OFF AND ON THROUGH OUT
THE DAY.

TEMPERATURES WITH THE NEW SNOW COVER WILL ALLOW TEMPERATURES TO
FALL INTO THE TEENS TONIGHT...20S ON THURSDAY AND READINGS IN THE
SINGLE DIGITS FRIDAY MORNING.

UNLIKE THE PREVIOUS SNOW EVENT...TEMPERATURES SHOULD RISE ABOVE
THE FREEZING MARK BY SATURDAY...WITH TEMPERATURES EXPECTED TO
REACH NEAR NORMAL LEVELS EARLY NEXT WEEK. NORMAL HIGHS IN EARLY
MARCH ARE IN THE UPPER 50S. DRY WEATHER SHOULD BE THE RULE AFTER
THIS WINTER STORM LEAVES THE QUAD STATE REGION.
