.DISCUSSION...
KEY MESSAGES:

- Strong winds will subside this evening and Lake Wind Advisory is
  set to expire at 8 PM
- Temperatures warm above average through the weekend with a few
  isolated rain showers
- Cooler and unsettled weather for next week.

WEATHER PATTERN OVERVIEW:

This morning`s system that brought the rain and snow showers and
wind will exit to our east allowing for mainly clear skies and
light winds.

An upper ridge then builds in from the Pacific Northwest, that
will boost temps to above normal levels through the weekend. During
the weekend the ridge gets tempered by an anomalously deep trough
and low pressure system digging south over the West coast as well
as another upper level Low forming over Canada. A few showers
could move into the area thanks to the West Coast Low during the
weekend, however its another Low forming over the Gulf of Alaska
that could drop south over us early next week that may be the
bigger influence on our weather with unsettled weather and
temperatures falling back to below mid April averages. Will have
to keep an eye on this to see if this scenario plays out.

CONFIDENCE AND POTENTIAL DEVIATIONS FROM BASE FORECAST:

There is high confidence in the dry conditions with light winds
tonight and Thursday. The weakest confidence is with the pattern
change next week. Long term models show a variation of a trough
over the western states with differences on precipitation
placements and amounts.

FLIGHT CATEGORY: VFR

DISCUSSION: With the loss of daytime convection, the pressure
gradient will relax across the area, with mostly clear skies
overnight.

WINDS: NW winds become light and variable by midnight. Thursday,
winds west of KGGW become more southerly at 5-10 kts, while winds
along the North Dakota border, remain more northwesterly at 10-15
kts.
