National Weather Service Pueblo Co
814 PM MDT Mon Apr 22 2024

...A Red Flag Warning is in effect for the San Luis Valley
from Noon to 8 PM MDT Tuesday...

.Discussion...

Critical fire weather conditions are expected across the San Luis
Valley once again on Tuesday, while over the plains, cooler and
more moist conditions will develop behind a cold front.

Warmer and more dry conditions are forecast to redevelop starting
Wednesday and lasting into the weekend, with a more impactful and
widespread fire danger event in the cards for Thursday and Friday
ahead of an approaching low pressure system.

Ventilation rates will degrade to Poor by 2100 this evening.
Surface-based inversions will begin to break by 0900 tomorrow
morning, with smoke dispersion improving to Excellent for the
higher terrain, and Good for the plains, by 1200. Favorable
ventilation rates will remain in place until between 1900 and
2000.
