...EXCESSIVE RAINFALL FORECAST FOR NEXT WEEK...

A HEAVY RAIN EVENT IS FORECAST FOR A GOOD PORTION OF NEXT WEEK
ACROSS THE AREA. PERIODS OF HEAVY RAINFALL ARE EXPECTED TO BEGIN
AS EARLY AS TUESDAY OVER THE MISSOURI OZARKS AND EXTREME SOUTHEAST
KANSAS AS A FRONTAL BOUNDARY MOVES INTO THE REGION.

THIS FRONT WILL EVENTUALLY STALL OUT ACROSS THE REGION. WHERE THIS
FRONT STALLS OUT WILL BE THE KEY FOR WHERE THE EXCESSIVE AMOUNTS
OF RAIN WILL LIKELY SET UP HEADING INTO TUESDAY NIGHT THROUGH MUCH
OF THE REMAINDER OF THE WORK WEEK.

AS IT STANDS NOW...THE HIGHEST AMOUNT OF RAINFALL IS EXPECTED TO
OCCUR OVER SOUTH CENTRAL MO IN LOCATIONS SOUTH AND EAST OF THE
INTERSTATE 44 CORRIDOR. CURRENTLY...WE ARE FORECASTING 3 TO 6
INCHES OF RAINFALL THERE...WITH ONE TO THREE INCHES NORTH AND WEST
OF THE INTERSTATE 44 CORRIDOR.

DESPITE THE FAIRLY DRY CONDITIONS WE HAVE HAD OVER JANUARY AND
FEBRUARY...THIS AMOUNT OF RAINFALL COULD CAUSE SOME WIDESPREAD
FLOODING TO OCCUR...ESPECIALLY AT THIS TIME OF YEAR WHEN
VEGETATION REMAINS DORMANT.

FOR THOSE WHO MANAGE WATER RESOURCES SUCH AS LAKES...RIVERS AND
DAMS...KEEP INFORMED WITH THE LATEST RAINFALL FORECAST AMOUNTS
EXPECTED FOR YOUR LOCATION.

THERE COULD STILL BE SOME VARIABLIITY IN WHERE THIS FRONTAL SYSTEM
SETS UP EARLY NEXT WEEK WHICH WILL HAVE IMPACTS ON THE AMOUNT OF
RAINFALL WE WILL FORECAST. YOU CAN KEEP UP TO DATE WITH OUR
FORECAST ON MANY TYPE OF MEDIA SUCH AS NOAA WEATHER RADIO...YOUR
LOCAL RADIO OR TV...THE INTERNET AND SOCIAL MEDIA.
