The National Weather Service in Springfield has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Southeastern Jasper County in southwestern Missouri...
  Southwestern Lawrence County in southwestern Missouri...

* Until 245 PM CDT.

* At 1154 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
  heavy rain across the warned area. Between 3 and 6 inches of rain
  have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are
  possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is already occurring.

  HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms
           producing flash flooding.

  SOURCE...Radar.

  IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams,
           urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Carthage, Mount Vernon, Sarcoxie, Verona, Alba, Carytown, Stotts
  City, Freistatt, Avilla, La Russell, Brooklyn Heights, Reeds and
  Hoberg.

This includes the following low water crossings...
  Center Creek at Dogwood Road and Spring River at County Road 2110.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Many flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
