 ...The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in
Missouri and Kansas...

  Elk River near Tiff City affecting McDonald County
  Spring River above Baxter Springs affecting Cherokee County
  Spring River at Carthage affecting Jasper County
  Shoal Creek near Joplin affecting Jasper and Newton Counties
  Spring River near Waco affecting Jasper County

.Heavy rainfall occurring tonight and into Saturday will cause river
levels to rise above flood stage. Details for each site are included
below.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Do not drive through flowing water. Nearly half of all flood
fatalities are vehicle related. As little as 6 inches of water may
cause you to lose control of your vehicle. Two feet of water will
carry most vehicles away.

...For the The Shoal Creek near Joplin...
* At  1:00 AM Saturday The stage was 5.2 feet.
* Flood stage is 14.0 feet.
* Major flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...rise above flood stage by this afternoon and continue to
  rise to near 20.0 feet by tomorrow early afternoon.  The river will
  fall below flood stage by late Monday morning.
* Impact...At 18.8 feet...This is the stage reached October 10, 2009.

* At  1:30 AM Saturday The stage was 6.5 feet.
* Flood stage is 14.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...rise above flood stage by this afternoon and continue to
  rise to near 29.5 feet by tomorrow evening.  The river will fall
  below flood stage by Wednesday morning.
* Impact...At 30.0 feet...Major Flood Stage. Water flows over Highway
  44 north of Baxter Springs and over Highway 166 at the gage site.

* Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...rise above flood stage by this afternoon and continue to
  rise to near 19.0 feet by tomorrow early afternoon.  The river will
  fall below flood stage by Monday before midnight.
* Impact...At 20.0 feet...Major flooding occurs at the gage site.

* At  1:30 AM Saturday The stage was 7.5 feet.
* Flood stage is 19.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...rise above flood stage by this evening and continue to
  rise to near 28.1 feet by tomorrow evening.  The river will fall
  below flood stage by Tuesday afternoon.
* Impact...At 27.0 feet...The Highway 171 Bridge downstream from the
  gage site floods.

* Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...rise above flood stage by late this afternoon and
  continue to rise to near 24.5 feet by tomorrow morning.  The river
  will fall below flood stage by late Monday morning.
* Impact...At 25.0 feet...Major flooding occurs at the gage site.
  Homes on the east side of Noel near the river may flood as well as
  Highways 59 and 90.
