This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of the Missouri
Ozarks and extreme southeast Kansas.
.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight.
Weather hazards expected...
Limited hail risk.
Limited thunderstorm wind damage risk.
Elevated lightning risk.
DISCUSSION...
A few thunderstorm are possible late this afternoon into this
evening, mainly along and north of a line from Warsaw, MO to
Rolla, MO. There will be the potential for severe storms with hail
to the size of golf balls the main risk. Damaging wind gusts are
also possible.
Additional thunderstorms may occur tonight, mainly north of I-44.
A few of these storms could lead to gusty winds, but are expected
to remain sub-severe.
.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Thursday through Tuesday.
A cold front will move through the area Thursday afternoon into
early Thursday night. Thunderstorms will develop along and ahead
of the front, with potential for severe storms Thursday afternoon
into early Thursday night. The main threats will be large hail to
the size of baseballs and damaging wind gusts of 60 to 70 mph.
There is also a low threat for a tornado or two. Locally heavy
rainfall will occur and could lead to a localized flooding risk
mainly across far southern Missouri Thursday evening and night.
The highest chance for showers and thunderstorms will be from noon
to 6 PM Thursday, with a lower severe risk from 6 PM to Midnight
Thursday evening.
Gusty northerly winds and a dry air mass could lead to elevated
fire weather conditions this weekend into early next week.
