...TODAY IS WINTER WEATHER AWARENESS DAY ACROSS MISSOURI...
The National Weather Service along with the Missouri Department of
Pubic Safety...Missouri State Emergency Management Agency and the
Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services has designated
today as the 2015 Winter Weather Awareness Day.
Winter weather across the Ozarks is usually quite diverse. It can
change from thunderstorms to snow within a couple of days. It can
also be quite deadly. Remain informed by listening for the latest
forecast...watches and warnings.
Winter Storm Watches are issued when severe weather
conditions...such as heavy snow and ice...are possible within the
next day or two.
Winter Storm Warnings are issued when hazardous winter weather is
imminent with at least six inches of snow and or significant
freezing rain expected. Although rare, Blizzard Warnings may also
be issued for a combination of heavy snow and winds greater than
35 mph which will reduce visibility to near zero.
