SURFACE HIGH PRESSURE WAS OVER THE AREA TODAY AND BROUGHT COOLER
AND DRIER AIR TO THE REGION. HIGHS REACHED THE LOW 80S ACROSS THE
EASTERN OZARKS AND THE MID TO UPPER 80S OVER EXTREME SOUTHEAST KANSAS.

TEMPERATURES HAD DROPPED BACK INTO THE UPPER 60S TO AROUND 80
ACROSS THE AREA AS OF MID EVENING...WITH OVERNIGHT LOWS EXPECTED
TO RANGE FROM AROUND 60 TO AROUND 70.

HIGH PRESSURE ALOFT MOVES BACK INTO THE AREA FOR FRIDAY AND
SATURDAY. THIS WILL RESULT IN A RETURN TO HOT AND HUMID
CONDITIONS. HIGHS WILL BE IN THE UPPER 80S TO MIDDLE 90S
FRIDAY...WITH HIGHS ON SATURDAY WELL INTO THE 90S AREA WIDE. HEAT
INDEX VALUES WILL RANGE FROM 100 TO 105 DEGREES ON SATURDAY. A
HEAT ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FOR EXTREME SOUTHEAST KANSAS INTO A
PART OF WEST CENTRAL MISSOURI FOR FRIDAY AFTERNOON.

THERE IS GOOD NEWS AS WE HEAD INTO THE LATTER PART OF THE WEEKEND.
A COLD FRONT WILL QUICKLY MOVE THROUGH THE AREA LATE SATURDAY
NIGHT AND SUNDAY. THIS WILL BRING A CHANCE OF THUNDERSTORMS TO THE
AREA...AND MUCH COOLER TEMPERATURES FOR THE FIRST HALF OF NEXT
WEEK.
