738 FZCA72 TJSJ 022010 MWSSJU Marine Weather Statement National Weather Service San Juan PR 410 PM AST Thu May 2 2024 AMZ711-712-716-030200- Atlantic Waters of Puerto Rico and USVI from 10 NM to 19.5N- Coastal Waters of Northern Puerto Rico out 10 NM- Coastal Waters from Cabo San Juan to the waters between Anegada Island and Virgin Gorda and North 10 NM- 410 PM AST Thu May 2 2024 Satellite imagery and doppler radar indicated strong thunderstorm development across the nearshore and offshore Atlantic waters. These thunderstorms are capable of producing winds to around 30 knots, frequent lightning, and torrential rain. Waterspouts are possible. The strongest thunderstorms are occurringalong a line, extending from northwestern Puerto Rico northward to 19.5 N, moving east-southeast at 15-20 knots. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Mariners can expect gusty winds to around 30 knots, locally higher waves, and lightning strikes. Boaters should seek safe harbor immediately until these storms pass. $$
