.PREV DISCUSSION... /Issued 306 PM CDT FRI AUG 26 2016/

DISCUSSION...
Showers and thunderstorms that have been persistent Today across
portions of southeast Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas are diminishing
in areal coverage at this hour. Would expected that trend to continue
for the most part. Showers and thunderstorms that have developed across
south-central oklahoma as the result of a mid-level shortwave lifting
out of the panhandle region will continue into the evening hours across
portions of eastern Oklahoma. There is the potential that some of these
storms could become strong to severe with strong gusty winds the main
concern. Locally heavy rain will also be possible.

During the forecast period, the mid-level ridge currently across
the Mid-Atlantic states will shift to the west and is expected to
be centered over the Southern Plains by mid-week. This will result
in near normal temperatures and a threat for diurnal showers and
thunderstorms through much of the period.
