...STRONG RIP CURRENTS AND ELEVATED SURF THROUGH THIS WEEKEND...

A FRESH SOUTH SWELL OF 4 TO 5 FEET WITH A 12 SECOND PERIOD WILL
ARRIVE TO THE COASTAL WATERS TODAY...AND CONTINUE THROUGH SUNDAY.
THIS SWELL WILL GENERATE ELEVATED SURF ALONG SAN DIEGO AND ORANGE
COUNTY BEACHES THROUGH THE WEEKEND...WITH ISOLATED SETS TO 7 FEET
POSSIBLE ON SOUTHERLY FACING BEACHES. STRONG AND DANGEROUS RIP
CURRENTS ARE LIKELY THROUGH THE PERIOD...AS WELL. CONDITIONS WILL
IMPROVE BY LATE SUNDAY.

THROUGH SUNDAY AFTERNOON...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SAN DIEGO HAS ISSUED A BEACH
HAZARDS STATEMENT FOR STRONG RIP CURRENTS AND ELEVATED SURF...WHICH
IS IN EFFECT FROM 9 AM PDT THIS MORNING THROUGH SUNDAY AFTERNOON.

* SURF...3 TO 5 FEET...WITH ISOLATED SETS TO 7 FEET ON SOUTHERLY
  FACING BEACHES.

* TIMING...THIS MORNING THROUGH SUNDAY AFTERNOON.

* IMPACTS...ELEVATED SURF AND STRONG RIP CURRENTS WILL RESULT IN
  DANGEROUS SWIMMING CONDITIONS... ESPECIALLY FOR INEXPERIENCED
  SWIMMERS.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A BEACH HAZARDS STATEMENT IS ISSUED WHEN THREATS SUCH AS STRONG
RIP CURRENTS...ELEVATED SURF HEIGHTS...MINOR TIDAL OVERFLOW...OR
LIGHTNING ARE POSSIBLE AT LOCAL BEACHES. OBEY POSTED WARNING
SIGNS AND FLAGS AND TALK TO A LIFEGUARD BEFORE SWIMMING. USE
CAUTION WHEN IN OR NEAR THE WATER AND ALWAYS SWIM NEAR A
LIFEGUARD.
