AND SOMERSET COUNTIES REMAIN UNDER A DROUGHT WARNING...

...THE STATE OF MARYLAND HAS UPGRADED THE DROUGHT WARNING FOR CECIL
COUNTY TO A DROUGHT WATCH. THE DROUGHT WATCH FOR ALL OTHER MARYLAND
COUNTIES WITHIN OUR HSA HAVE BEEN LIFTED...

SYNOPSIS:

For east-central and southeastern Pennsylvania; northwest, central
and southern New Jersey; Delaware; and the Eastern Shore of Maryland...

SUMMARY OF IMPACTS...

State and Local Actions:
The National Weather Service does not declare Drought Watches or Warnings.

In New Jersey, a drought warning remains in place for both Hunterdon
and Somerset.

In Maryland, a drought watch has been issued for Cecil county.

Soil Moisture Conditions (Ending 6/24):
Soil moisture, as measured by the Palmer Drought Severity Index,
ranged from -2.71 to -2.66 in Maryland, -0.94 to -0.71 in
Pennsylvania, -2.29 to -0.65 in Delaware, and -0.52 to -0.48 in New
Jersey.

What do the numbers mean?

-4.0 or less: Extreme Drought
-3.0 to -3.9: Severe Drought
-2.0 to -2.9: Moderate Drought
-1.9 to +1.9: Near Normal
+2.0 to +2.9: Unusual Moist Spell
+3.0 to +3.9: Very Moist
+4.0 and Above: Extremely Moist

Groundwater Conditions (Ending 6/30):
Regional groundwater levels varied widely and were running much below
normal to much above normal.

River and Streamflow Conditions (Ending 6/30):
Regional streamflow conditions varied and were running below normal
to above normal.

Delaware River Salt Line (Ending 6/22):
The salt line in the Delaware River Estuary was estimated at river
mile marker 68. The normal location for this time of year is river
mile marker 69.

Reservoirs/Water Supply (Ending 6/30):
Most reservoir pools were below normal to normal.

CLIMATE SUMMARY...

During the last 30 days (Ending 6/29), mean areal precipitation
totals were mainly between 1.5 and 5.0 inches across the entire HSA.
Departures varied between well below normal and above normal.

During the last 60 days (Ending 6/29), mean areal precipitation
totals were mainly between 7.5 and 10.5 inches across the entire
HSA. Departures varied between below normal and above normal.

PRECIPITATION/TEMPERATURE OUTLOOK...

Low pressure will track from the Great Lakes region to across
southeastern Canada through Sunday. An associated weak cold front
will settle into our area Saturday night and Sunday, then
potentially stall near our region. The boundary however may then
start to lift northward as a warm front Thursday.

The 8 to 14 day outlook calls for above normal temperatures and
precipitation.
