HYDROLOGIC OUTLOOK
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SPOKANE WA
302 PM PST SUN MAR 2 2014

...SEVERAL DAYS OF RAIN AND SNOW MELT DUE TO INCREASINGLY MILDER
TEPERATURES WILL RESULT IN INCREASES TO AREA RIVERS...STREAMS AND
SMALL CREAKS AS EARLY AS MONDAY NIGHT THROUGH NEXT WEEK. LOCALIZED
OR STORM WATER FLOODING WILL BE POSSIBLE IN URBAN AND LOW LYING
AREAS AS WELL...

RIVERS AND SMALL STREAMS ACROSS SOUTHEAST WASHINGTON AND IN THE
IDAHO PANHANDLE WILL BE ON THE INCREASE AS EARLY AS MONDAY AFTERNOON
DUE TO RAIN AND SNOW MELT. THIS THREAT IS EXPECTED TO EXPAND TO
THE NORTH AND WEST OVER THE COURSE OF THE WEEK AS TEMPERATURES
CONTINUE TO MODERATE. A PAIR OF WETTER STORM SYSTEMS WILL PUSH
ACROSS THE REGION ON WEDNESDAY AND CONTINUE THROUGH THURSDAY.
MODERATE TO HEAVY RAIN WILL BE POSSIBLE WITH THESE STORM SYSTEMS
AND WILL ADD TO THE SNOW MELT ACROSS THE REGION. AREAS OF MOST
CONCERN INCLUDES THE CENTRAL TO NORTHERN IDAHO PANHANDLE...NORTHERN
MOUNTAINS OF EASTERN WASHINGTON AND OUT INTO THE EASTERN BASIN.
ALTHOUGH AREA RIVERS WILL LIKELY BE ON THE RISE THROUGH NEXT
WEEK...FLOODING IS NOT ANTICIPATED AT THIS TIME DUE TO LOW BASE
FLOWS. THE THREAT FOR FLOODING WILL BE HIGHER ALONG CREEKS AND
SMALL STREAMS. THERE WILL ALSO BE A THREAT FOR SOME LOCALIZED OR
STORM WATER FLOODING IN URBAN AND LOW LYING AREAS. NEAR TO OR BELOW
FREEZING SOIL TEMPERATURES MAY ALSO INHIBIT OR REDUCE INFILTRATION
OF RUNOFF INTO THE SOIL.

THIS IS STILL AN EVOLVING SITUATION AND CONFIDENCE IN RAINFALL
AMOUNTS ARE STILL LOW AT THIS TIME. NEVERTHELESS...THE WEATHER
PATTERN IS FAVORABLE DUE TO THE POTENTIAL FOR HEAVY VALLEY SNOW
THIS WEEKEND FOLLOWED UP BY A MILD AND WET PERIOD THROUGH NEXT
WEEK. BE AWARE OF FUTURE OUTLOOKS...WATCHES...OR WARNINGS FROM THE
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE.
