Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Central/Southeast Illinois
National Weather Service Lincoln IL
317 PM CST Thu Feb 23 2017

.DISCUSSION...

The cold front that moved through Central Illinois today is
expected to lift northward later this evening as a warm
front, resulting in winds becoming southerly across the entire
region by Friday morning. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will
be possible this afternoon and tonight with this front as the
front pushes north. Tomorrow, stronger southerly winds will bring
one last gasp of unseasonably warm air into the region early. As
the storm system shifts, a strong cold front will bring a line of
thunderstorms in the afternoon...with the best rain and storm chances
east of I-55. Temperatures will be sharply colder for the weekend,
and some precipitation wrapping around the parent low pressure may
be in the form of some light snow on Saturday. Even with the good
vent rates, the storm system will bring gusty surface winds, making
burning problematic.
