Fire Weather Planning Forecast For Extreme Southeast Arkansas,
Northeast Louisiana, and Central Mississippi
National Weather Service Jackson MS
301 PM CDT Wed May 8 2024

.DISCUSSION...Patchy fog will be possible Thursday morning but
dense fog is not anticipated. Rain chances will increase across
the north tonight as a cold front begins to sag into the north
after midnight. Rain chances will spread south across the central
districts Thursday as the frontal boundary stalls across the
central portions of the area. Storms will be likely across the
central districts Thursday night as a strong system with damaging
wind, large hail, and locally heavy rain races east across the
region. In addition, tornadoes cannot be ruled out. Rain chances
will linger into Friday until a reinforcing cold front clears the
area and ushers in cooler and drier air. Dry weather and cooler
than normal temperatures are expected Friday night through Sunday
morning before warmer temperatures and rain chances return Sunday
night ahead of the next low pressure system Monday into Tuesday.
